Healing the Throat Chakra

Kind words can be short and easy to speak,

but their echoes are truly endless.

–Mother Teresa

Key words of the throat chakra: communication, expression, willpower, creativity, justice, faith, choice, decision making, addiction, responsibility, honesty, truth, freedom

The throat chakra brings out your inner truth.

The throat chakra allows us to communicate our thoughts and feelings. It is directly connected to the ability to express inner creativity. Both teaching and learning are affected by the balance of the throat chakra. It  is not limited to just the physical world.  Communicating with the spirit world, God, our ancestors is a vital and natural way of man’s knowing his place in the universe. When the throat chakra is out of balance we are inhibited and restricted.  We analyse our words before we say them.  We take on the truths of others, listening to their words as though they were gospel, suppressing our feelings until we no longer understand our own emotions. This can lead to anxiety, feelings of detachment from ourselves and others.  Unable to express ourselves, we find no solace in any activity.  We find it increasing hard to concentrate and are easily distracted.  We begin more and more projects without finishing them and this in turn leads to frustration and increased anxiety – a very vicious circle. Stress, frustration and anxiety often manifest in digestive disorders such as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), especially nowadays when communications seem highly accentuated and yet it is not our feelings we are communicating, but rather we are hearing the drone of the faceless masses.

So do any of these physical symptoms sound like you?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Affirmations are a great tool to help balance the throat chakra.   Speak one of the following affirmations slowly and clearly to yourself three times:

I choose to express myself in my own creative way.

I say what I mean, and mean what I say.

I love and I trust in my own authentic truths.

If you smoke, this habit has a negative effect on throat chakra and your whole energy system, but especially your throat chakra.  What a great way to clear your throat chakra by giving up the bad habit of smoking!  Over eating and drinking also harms your throat chakra. Usually these bad habits are a crutch or distraction from inner stress and issues that we need to acknowledge and heal. Polluting our body and preventing you from facing your issues block your truth.  If you gossip or talk poorly about others, now is the time to change that habit.  These ill words will leave a residue of Sha Chi in your throat chakra.  Both of these bad habits create an environment where Sha Chi is transferred to other energy centers within your body.  By giving up these bad habits, you clear the way for fresh Sheng Chi to rejuvenate your throat chakra.

Too often in our busy days, we plug into some electrical or electronic device.  When was the last time you simply sat and listened to the silence?  The sensory function of the throat chakra is hearing. The following technique might sound a little obscure, but it actually increases your hearing ability. Find a quiet spot, get “comfy” and prepare to listen to the sound of nothingness.  While listening to the sound of nothingness, you hear the voice within.  Your authentic truths speak to you in the stillness. What a great way to recharge your throat chakra by boosting your hearing abilities!

Healing the throat chakra

Reflexology can heal the physical ailments of the throat chakra by stimulating the body’s own natural healing processes.  The reflexes of the throat chakra are found on the toes on both the dorsal aspect (face and teeth) and the plantar aspect (throat and sinus).  Located in zone 1, the throat chakra reflexes are connected to the body’s central core which is why there may be dis-ease in the spine (neck), bowels, intestines, chest and heart.

Reiki can reset the natural performance of the throat chakra by directing universal life force to heal any imbalances and clear slider-reikiblockages.  This is achieved by the Reiki healer using her hands above the throat and behind the head, directing healing Reiki energy into the chakra.  By sending light, love and Reiki through the chakra, the blockage or imbalance is lifted, allowing the chakra to ‘spin’ freely and function correctly.  During the healing of the throat chakra clients may sometimes feel quite emotional and cry, finally releasing any pent up emotions.  Healing this chakra can be very powerful, changing the thought patterns and beliefs almost instantly, meaning the client may find it necessary to speak her mind.  This in itself can challenge the nature of any fear-based relationships.  The suppressed voice must now be heard.  The truth will out.  Significant changes are often the result of a healed throat chakra and the client must be prepared for this.
Crystal healing can clear the throat chakra by removing the negative vibrations of the blockage, allowing this energy wheel to spin 018freely.  The main crystal associated with the throat chakra is blue lace agate which is placed near the sternal notch (the hollow of the throat). If you don’t have a lace agate, any blue crystal will do.  A turquoise colored stone is then placed below this, near the thymus gland.  Beneath this on the breastbone a terminated clear quartz crystal is laid pointing downwards.  Finally, two terminated crystals are laid pointing outwards on either side of the first blue stone.  These stones are then left in place for a few minutes until their work is done before being removed in reverse order.

  1. One of my family member has the problem of expressing his thoughts, reach out for help and thinks way too much before speaking. I am confident that he has a blocked throat chakra. When we asked him to choose his own bach remedies he came up with almost the same remedies as you have mentioned. We have scheduled a chakra balancing procedure by a professional and hope to see the difference. Thanks for the information.

I love your feedback!
